Role Overview

The Destination Advisory Board comprises a Chairperson, two appointed members, and four co-opted members who represent specifically identified community sectors including the CODC Mayor or an elected councillor, a Kai Tahu representative, a tourism business owner or senior manager from Central Otago, and a youth representative aged between 18 and 30 years. The board anticipates convening up to four meetings yearly.

  • Encourage open discussion and foster member engagement on relevant topics.
  • Use personal influence and authority to assist the TCO team in fulfilling their objectives.
  • Help address strategic issues and risks at board meetings as necessary.

Skills and Experience

Board appointments aim to balance management and marketing experience, combining both local and wider regional knowledge. Desired attributes include respected standing within the community, strategic vision for Central Otago, familiarity with tourism frameworks nationally and locally, project management skills, awareness of Central Government processes, understanding of regional identity and Kai Tahu values, strong partnership with mana whenua, and youth leadership capabilities.
