Position Overview
LRS Architects is seeking a Design Coordinator to join our Multi-Family Housing Studio. This full-time role involves critical involvement in steering housing projects from the inception phase through construction. Collaborating closely with Design Managers, Design Leads, consultants, and project teams, you will help turn conceptual designs into coordinated, feasible solutions that fulfill client objectives and enrich communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and technical progression of multifamily residential projects across all design and construction stages
- Create and manage BIM models, construction drawings, details, schedules, and other project deliverables
- Partner with project teams to meet goals related to quality, budget adherence, timelines, and design vision
- Coordinate technical aspects with engineering consultants and other relevant disciplines
- Support building planning, code compliance research, accessibility standards, unit design, amenity spaces, and project documentation tasks
- Follow firm-wide standards, BIM practices, quality assurance protocols, and project guidelines
- Effectively communicate with team members, consultants, clients, and regulatory bodies as directed
- Oversee task management and deadlines while anticipating upcoming project needs
- Provide assistance during construction administration including addressing contractor inquiries and reviewing project documentation
- Continue enhancing professional skills, technical knowledge, and project coordination through mentorship and hands-on experience
Qualifications
- Professional architectural degree (B.Arch or M.Arch)
- Approximately 4 to 6 years of professional experience in architecture or interior design, with at least 3 years focused on relevant work
- Skilled in Revit and BIM-oriented project delivery methods
- Experienced in preparing and coordinating construction documentation
- Strong organizational capabilities and efficient at managing time
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively while handling multiple priorities and deadlines
- Preferred experience includes multifamily, mixed-use, affordable, workforce, student, or senior housing projects
- Familiarity with residential building codes, accessibility regulations, and housing design principles
- Experience managing consultant coordination (structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil)
- Competent in developing technical documentation through various project phases
- Understanding of construction materials, building systems, detailing, and constructability issues
- Construction administration experience is beneficial
- Strong analytical and detail-oriented problem-solving skills
- Progress toward architectural licensure or certification is advantageous
