Role Overview
The Customs Shift Clerk is responsible for coordinating customs declarations including imports, exports, transition declarations (T1), and CFSP frontier and supplementary declarations on behalf of customers. The role involves ensuring compliance, timely completion of documentation, and effective communication with customers and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate customs documentation for outbound and inbound shipments, including full customs declarations and transition documents.
- Communicate effectively with customers, freight forwarders, hauliers, and internal teams to provide timely information and excellent service.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately and meet processing deadlines.
- Handle urgent requirements and resolve problems within designated timelines.
- Maintain electronic and physical customs files for certification and documentation purposes.
- Manage queries from the Global Service Centre and responses from HMRC and other governmental bodies.
- Submit relevant data to the Global Service Centre as needed.
- Adhere strictly to DHL's Code of Conduct and all compliance mandates including anti-corruption policies.
- Participate in the First Choice continuous improvement initiative.
Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in IT applications and systems.
- Strong communication, including telephone etiquette.
- Well-developed organizational and planning capabilities.
Shift Pattern
The position operates on a rotating schedule: 4 days on followed by 4 days off, then 4 nights on and 4 nights off with shifts from 7am to 7pm and 7pm to 7am.

This role reports directly to the Customs Manager.
