Role Overview
BlueScope Distribution is seeking a Customer Service Specialist to join the Customer Service team in Gladstone. The business is a one-stop source for product, processing, and service solutions across steel and aluminium, supporting customers in many industries to help them complete projects on time and to the required specification.
In this position, you will be a key point of contact for sales and service-related enquiries, delivering a consistently high standard of customer care. You will handle new orders and quotes, offer product and pricing guidance, and manage a wide range of daily queries in a collaborative, supportive team environment.
You will also have access to wellbeing-focused support such as an Employee Assistance Program, Employee Real Deals, and ongoing learning, training, and development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle customer conversations by phone and email while managing quotes and enquiries.
- Follow up on quotations and requests, turning suitable leads into sales opportunities.
- Work closely with internal teams such as marketing, warehouse, and sales to meet customer expectations, including product requirements, special packaging needs, and delivery schedules.
- Develop and strengthen customer relationships to identify additional business and sales opportunities.
- Look for practical ways to improve the customer journey and increase the overall value delivered to customers.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is customer-oriented, eager to learn, and ready to develop within the role. You should bring experience in a customer service or sales setting, along with a strong ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accuracy.
You will need strong communication and interpersonal skills, confidence in resolving issues quickly and effectively, and a proactive mindset for building positive working relationships. A basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office is expected, and you should be open to relevant training.
