Credit Analyst

Role overview

Balmain is seeking a Credit Analyst in Sydney to support the evaluation and processing of credit risk matters. The position focuses on borrower ratings, credit application handling, and ongoing reporting to Credit leadership, including Senior Credit Managers and the Head of Credit, as needed. You will also work with customers to help the business assess their financial position, operating performance, and capacity to meet financial commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Credit Manager and Senior Credit Manager in reviewing credit submissions and assessing loan opportunities.
• Carry out financial analysis, including review of financial statements and project feasibility, to assess credit quality for loan applications.
• Prepare internal credit reports used for loan approval recommendations and investor-facing materials.
• Draft and structure offer letters and term sheets alongside Senior Credit Managers.
• Assist in preparing SPDS reports.
• Review development loan QS reports and recommend progress payment amounts.
• Recommend settlement payment amounts.
• Coordinate with external loan management providers, lending panel consultants, and security document custodians.
• Support the loan documentation and negotiation process.

Skills and experience

• Knowledge of commercial property lending.
• Prior experience in a credit-focused role is preferred.
• Ability to help assess and structure commercial development and investment loans from origination through to financial close.
• Capability to contribute to the development of credit risk frameworks.
• Willingness to learn how to review loan agreements and work with legal consultants on loan documentation.
• Developing understanding of the loan settlement process from a legal perspective.
• Ability to work independently while remaining part of a team.
• Strong time management and organisational ability.
