Job Description and Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee budgets and forecasts for projects and associated work packages.
- Ensure compliance with established project control standards throughout all phases.
- Create and maintain budgets, forecasts, and expenditure profiles using approved work breakdown and cost breakdown structures.
- Analyze earned value metrics and identify adverse trends affecting project costs.
- Coordinate and produce recurring cost reports and budget updates aligned with reporting schedules.
- Evaluate changes during construction phases and communicate associated risks and opportunities.
- Integrate and assess cost estimates and forecasts received from contractors and suppliers.
- Provide technical and procedural support to manage overall project budget and scope effectively.
- Prepare detailed cost and resource estimates supporting budget formation.
- Implement stringent change control procedures to manage budget and scope changes.
- Generate comprehensive cost reports for projects and their work packages.
- Collaborate closely with construction teams to track site-related costs.
- Work with scheduling departments to facilitate earned value analysis.
- Support feasibility studies and assist in producing cost reports.
- Contribute to estimating and cost planning, including producing and presenting finalized cost plans.
- Participate in tendering and procurement processes, including pre-qualification support, pre-tender estimates, tender analysis, tender reporting, and preparing contractual documentation.
- Manage post-contract cost variances and oversee change control processes.
- Adhere to project governance procedures and systems throughout project lifecycle.
- Collaborate effectively within a cost management team to meet all deliverables.
Qualifications and Experience
- Professional qualification in cost management, commercial management, project controls, or a related discipline.
- Experience in commercial management within the infrastructure sector, particularly in water projects.
- Membership or accreditation from MRICS or AIQS is preferred.
- Relevant consultancy sector experience.
- Familiarity with the Australian market or infrastructure projects in Australia.
- Proficiency with software tools including CostX, Unifer, Prism, Ecosys, Unifier, and Cobra.
- Competence in using SAP and business intelligence tools.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong report and bid writing abilities.
- Highly motivated and committed to delivering excellent client service.
