Role overview
This position is for a full-time design engineer focused on automotive cooling systems and related components. The work covers parts such as hoses, degas tanks, radiators, pumps, valves, and heat exchangers within the powertrain team.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute as a design engineer on powertrain programs with a focus on cooling-system components.
- Prepare and deliver CAD outputs for cooling commodities including hoses, degas tanks, heat exchangers, and related parts.
- Work with multiple stakeholders to provide complete end-to-end design support and delivery.
- Apply vehicle packaging guidelines while developing and validating designs.
- Use strong knowledge of plastic and sheet-metal design rules along with relevant manufacturing methods.
- Support or lead design reviews and incorporate design changes while balancing feasibility and timelines.
- Ensure CAD completion on schedule for S/T/P releases.
- Handle commodity release and change-management activities.
- Work with proto and production BOMs as part of the development cycle.
Technical requirements
- 2 to 4 years of experience in the automotive domain, specifically with cooling-system commodities.
- Strong hands-on ability in CATIA V5 and CATIA V6 for 2D and 3D design work.
- Working exposure to PLM tools such as TeamCenter.
- Solid understanding of GD&T.
- Good proficiency with MS tools including SharePoint, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of vehicle package guidelines, plastic design, sheet-metal design, and manufacturing processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
