Role Overview
This position, based in Darwin, is pivotal in overseeing procurement and contract management for the Darwin Civic Centre Project. The role demands ensuring adherence to contractual commitments, minimizing financial risks, and aligning procurement strategies with project goals. You will collaborate closely with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and other stakeholders to lead contract negotiation, execution, and overall management, supporting cost control, regulatory compliance, and successful project completion.
Key Qualifications and Attributes
- Relevant qualification in Construction, Engineering, or related discipline.
- At least five years’ experience in a senior contracts management capacity within the construction sector.
- Extensive knowledge in contract negotiation, administration, procurement processes, risk management, and cost control.
- Proven ability managing commercial risks, contractual disputes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory demands.
- Strong leadership and team management proficiency, demonstrated by successful delivery of high-value projects.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective stakeholder management skills with a talent for building strong collaborative relationships.
- Competency with JobPac software, Microsoft Office suite, and project management tools.
- Highly organized and analytical mindset able to juggle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage the entire contract lifecycle from initial tendering and award through to execution and project completion.
- Offer expert guidance on contract terms, managing variations, claims, and ensuring contractual compliance.
- Supervise administration of head contracts and subcontracts, confirming all obligations are fulfilled.
- Design and maintain contract management systems to monitor deliverables, compliance, and overall project performance.
- Formulate and implement procurement strategies aligned with project timelines, budgets, and objectives.
- Direct subcontractor procurement activities including preparing tender documents, conducting evaluations, negotiating, and awarding contracts.
- Lead cost control efforts by reviewing forecasts, cost plans, budget reports, and commercial performance indicators.
- Manage variations, progress claims, final accounts, and all related contractual documentation.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to contracts, commercial facets, and subcontractors.
- Resolve contractual issues and disputes in consultation with appropriate parties.
- Prepare and analyze commercial reports, procurement progress updates, and project performance data.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to promote successful project delivery, cost management, quality assurance, and compliance.
- Monitor project progress relative to key milestones, deliverables, and commercial targets.
- Build and maintain effective partnerships with project teams, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Support a culture of teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement, upholding DCOH’s Code of Conduct.
