About the Role
MP Grant Jackson from the House of Commons is inviting applications for a permanent Constituency Assistant position based in Brandon, Manitoba. This full-time opportunity involves an average 37.5 hour workweek with occasional requirements for evening and weekend hours. The role starts on August 4, 2026. The successful candidate will be dedicated to providing support and direction to Canadian constituents by evaluating individual cases, managing administrative tasks, and engaging with the community. This position offers an excellent chance for someone eager to gain practical insights into federal government operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct client interviews via telephone or face-to-face meetings.
- Manage and process casework related to federal departments such as Immigration, Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), Canada Pension Plan (CPP), Old Age Security (OAS), Passports, Veterans Affairs, and others as needed.
- Review applications and related documents to ensure eligibility criteria are met.
- Communicate decisions clearly and provide clients with comprehensive guidance about program rules and requirements.
- Maintain thorough and accurate case records using electronic databases.
- Ensure all activities comply with federal laws, privacy regulations, and service standards.
- Make decisions supported fully by the Member of Parliament.
Qualifications
- Completion of secondary school diploma or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Competency in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with case management or database software is an asset.
- Ability to work autonomously while managing several priorities effectively and responsibly.
- Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Professionalism and integrity in collaborative work environments.
