About Tesla Engineering Germany

Based in Munich, Tesla Engineering Germany is dedicated to advancing sustainable energy by designing state-of-the-art power electronics for energy storage and vehicle charging solutions. Join a multidisciplinary team focused on moving concepts from initial design through prototyping and testing to real-world application.

Role Overview

As a Compliance Engineer for Regulatory Deployment in EMEA, you will ensure that Tesla's Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) complies with the standards across the EMEA region. You will collaborate with regulators and various internal teams to facilitate permits, inspections, and ongoing compliance checks. Your leadership in cross-functional activities like field audits, training, and incident management will help enable the secure and efficient deployment of essential EV infrastructure, furthering the global energy transition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support regulatory deployment needs for charging products, addressing differences across national, state, and local jurisdictions within EMEA.
  • Develop and maintain regulatory documentation and literature to facilitate the introduction of new products.
  • Assist authorities during onsite and remote calibrations, certifications, and audits.
  • Create and refine compliance processes to foster collaboration across jurisdictional levels and streamline permitting, inspections, and maintenance procedures.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, deployment, and service teams to assure EVSE acceptance in compliance with codes, and provide training to relevant stakeholders.
  • Establish and track regulatory key performance indicators (KPIs) aimed at enhancing permit and inspection workflows.
  • Collaborate with Policy and Compliance teams to identify and address legislative discrepancies and opportunities.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A relevant degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field, or an apprenticeship combined with a minimum of 3 years of pertinent experience in engineering or compliance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of critical EU Directives applicable to EVSE and country-specific regulations across Europe, including wiring codes and labeling requirements.
  • Experience with harmonized standards governing conformity assessments related to metering, safety, radio/EMC, along with CE and UKCA marking standards.
  • Ability to integrate electrical, mechanical, and software engineering principles within EVSE systems, complemented by strong technical writing skills for clear documentation.
  • Proficient in managing compliance projects, audits, and market entry initiatives, with familiarity in software tools such as MS Office and project management systems like Jira.
  • Excellent communication capabilities for effective collaboration with both internal teams and external regulatory authorities.
  • Willingness and capacity for frequent travel across the EMEA region as needed.
