About the School
Townsville Grammar School is a long-established Queensland Grammar school with campuses at North Ward, Annandale and North Shore. The school serves around 1,400 students in total, including about 120 boarders in Years 7-12 and approximately 25 international students. Founded in 1888, it is one of the state’s original Grammar schools and has a strong reputation in Northern Queensland. It also offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for Years 11 and 12.
Role Overview
The school is looking for an experienced and proactive Cleaning Operations Supervisor to oversee cleaning across three campuses and manage laundry operations at the North Ward campus. This is a practical leadership position focused on maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, hygiene, safety and presentation across school facilities.
You will supervise operational staff, coordinate resources and equipment, check service quality, and support ongoing improvements in cleaning, laundry and waste management.
Leadership and Daily Operations
- Direct and coordinate cleaning teams across all three campuses, as well as laundry staff at North Ward.
- Provide hands-on guidance, support and day-to-day supervision to staff.
- Organise induction, onboarding and operational training for team members.
- Assist Human Resources with recruitment activities.
- Spot, raise and address operational, safety and compliance concerns.
- Handle routine operational issues and work through day-to-day challenges.
Cleaning and Laundry Services
- Make sure classrooms, offices, boarding areas and other facilities are kept to a consistently high standard.
- Carry out regular inspections and quality checks.
- Plan and monitor cleaning rosters and service delivery across campuses.
- Oversee laundry processes so service expectations are delivered efficiently and professionally.
- Work with internal stakeholders on cleaning and laundry needs.
Resources, Compliance and Sustainability
- Track inventory, place orders and distribute cleaning and laundry consumables.
- Ensure chemicals, materials and equipment are used, stored and maintained safely.
- Coordinate servicing and repairs for equipment when needed.
- Monitor outside providers for waste, recycling and sanitary services.
- Contribute to recycling and sustainability programs.
- Maintain compliance with WHS obligations and other relevant regulations.
About You
To succeed in this role, you should bring operational leadership experience, strong organisation and sound judgement. The school is seeking someone who can work independently while also building effective working relationships with staff and stakeholders.
