Role overview
J D Wetherspoon is hiring a Cleaner for The Three Fishes in Worthing. The position pays £12.91 and is based on-site. The closing date for applications is 11-07-2026. This is a 8-hour-per-week role with early-morning shifts across Monday to Sunday, from 6:00 to 8:00 each day.
What the job involves
You will be responsible for keeping every part of the pub spotless and well-presented, helping create a better experience for guests through consistently high standards of cleanliness.
The pub operates from early morning until late at night, so the role offers flexibility across different shift patterns, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and late finishes.
Key duties
- Keep customer-facing areas, washrooms, the bar, kitchen, staff spaces, and outdoor areas clean and tidy.
- Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks in line with standard operating procedures.
- Use cleaning products and equipment safely and correctly.
- Track stock levels of cleaning materials and alert the manager when supplies need replenishing.
- Escalate maintenance concerns and pest control issues to the duty manager.
- Interact courteously with customers by greeting them and saying thank you and goodbye.
- Complete induction, job-specific, and refresher training, while contributing ideas for ongoing improvement.
Who they are looking for
The employer is seeking upbeat, committed, and enthusiastic people who enjoy working in a team. Previous experience is not required; what matters most is a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability to stay calm when under pressure.
Applicants should be dependable, approachable, and comfortable working as part of a team. The role may also suit someone looking for additional shifts or a longer-term career opportunity.
Benefits
- Competitive pay rate.
- Free meal and drink while on shift.
- 20% discount on food, drinks, and hotel accommodation for you and up to three guests when off duty.
- Extra £1 per hour for work completed between midnight and 5:59 am.
- Bonus opportunity worth up to 19% of pay.
- Access to guaranteed-hours and variable-hours contracts.
- Paid holiday entitlement.
- Free shares after a qualifying period.
- Loyalty reward scheme.
Training and progression
Training is provided through an award-winning programme, and the company states it can teach the skills needed to succeed in the role. There are also development opportunities through structured on-the-job learning, apprenticeships, management academies, and cross-training in bar, kitchen, and hotel areas. Progression may lead to team-leader and shift-leader positions and beyond.
Additional information
The company says it values an inclusive workplace where everyone is welcome and aims to ensure colleagues feel comfortable being themselves at work, regardless of background, preferences, or beliefs.
This role may not be appropriate for under-18s because of shift patterns and lone working. Other vacancies may be available, including front-of-house and kitchen positions.
If application numbers are high, the vacancy could close before the stated closing date.
