Role Overview

The Department of Education in Western Australia is creating a pool of Cleaners to fill permanent and fixed-term vacancies, both full-time and part-time, that may arise throughout the 2026 school year until the end of Term 2, 2027. Positions may be offered anytime within this timeframe.

Responsibilities

Cleaners will undertake various internal tasks such as carpet and hard floor maintenance, toilet cleaning, dusting, furniture and fixture cleaning, window washing, rubbish disposal, and other general cleaning duties. External responsibilities include cleaning verandas, covered areas, drinking troughs, removing cobwebs, and rubbish removal. During school vacations, additional duties include stripping and sealing vinyl flooring, carpet shampooing, pressure cleaning of verandas and sheltered areas, and comprehensive window cleaning.

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently as well as cooperatively within a team. Reliability, honesty, punctuality, and organizational skills are essential, along with a strong understanding of cleaning tools, equipment, and safe cleaning protocols.

Eligibility Criteria

• Must hold a valid Working With Children Check.
• Consent to a nationally coordinated criminal history check and obtain a Screening Clearance Number from the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement.
• Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or hold a valid visa with appropriate work rights for the appointment duration.
