Civil QA QC Engineer

Overview

The Civil QA/QC Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring all civil construction activities are conducted as per approved project plans, specifications, contracts, codes, and quality benchmarks. This position involves overseeing site operations, carrying out inspections, documenting quality measures, and liaising with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and project teams to maintain compliance throughout the project.

Key Duties

• Implement and uphold the project's Quality Management System (QMS)
• Examine project specifications, method statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and material submissions
• Inspect civil work to verify conformity with drawings and project specs
• Arrange inspections with consultants, clients, and third-party inspectors
• Prepare and submit Inspection Requests (IRs) and Material Inspection Requests (MIRs)
• Oversee site activities ensuring quality standards are consistently met during all construction phases
• Detect non-conformance issues, generate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and monitor corrective and preventive action implementations
• Compile quality reports, inspection logs, checklists, and handover documentation
• Confirm approval of all construction materials prior to installation
• Coordinate material testing with authorized laboratories to ensure compliance with standards
• Maintain comprehensive records of quality documentation, test reports, approvals, and inspections
• Support both internal and external quality audits
• Collaborate with site engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and management to resolve quality concerns
• Ensure adherence to local regulatory requirements and project quality standards
• Engage in project handover processes including preparation of as-built quality documents
• Encourage continual quality improvement and best practices on site

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
• 5 to 8 years of QA/QC experience within civil construction, including a minimum of 3 years in the UAE
• Background working with main contractors on high-rise, residential, commercial, hospitality, or mixed-use developments
• Thorough understanding of construction standards, quality control protocols, and inspection procedures
• Hands-on experience with ITPs, Method Statements, MIRs, IRs, NCRs, RFIs, and material approval processes
• Familiarity with local authority requirements and international construction standards
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD; knowledge of Aconex, Procore, or equivalent document management platforms is a plus

Additional Technical Expertise

• Material testing methods, concrete and structural inspection
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
• Knowledge of construction and safety codes such as ASTM, ACI, BS, ISO, and local building regulations
