About the Role
This position is based in Muskogee, Oklahoma, offering a meaningful opportunity to contribute to the safety and well-being of children and families within the state's largest human services agency. The role involves working in various child welfare programs to support families and children, ensuring safety and permanency through direct services and collaboration.
New staff members will benefit from comprehensive training to prepare for their duties.
Compensation and Benefits
- Level I (H23A): Annual salary of $37280 with full state employee benefits.
- Level II (H23B): Annual salary of $40077 with full state employee benefits.
- Level III (H23C): Annual salary of $43968 with full state employee benefits.
Applicants holding a Master’s Degree in Social Work qualify for an additional 5% salary incentive. Additionally, on-call employees receive a biweekly bonus ranging from $100 to $150 based on assigned duties. Work schedules may include on-call responsibilities, extended hours, and weekend shifts.
Minimum Qualifications
Requirements vary by level:
- Level I: Completion of 90 college credit hours, or 3 years of related child welfare experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Level II: Bachelor's degree in any discipline or one year experience as a Child Welfare Specialist.
- Level III: Master's degree, or Bachelor's with one year as a Child Welfare Specialist, or two years of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist.
Key Responsibilities
The role may involve one or more areas within Child Welfare:
- Child Protective Services: Investigate abuse/neglect claims, ensure child safety, and support families facing challenges threatening child welfare.
- Family Centered Services: Strengthen parental protective capabilities to maintain children safely in their homes and prevent unnecessary placements.
- Permanency Planning: Engage families in treatment plans, find suitable placements that address children's holistic needs, arrange timely family reunification or permanent care plans.
All new hires will complete the Child Welfare Core Academy Training, encompassing:
- Learning treatment and prevention techniques;
- Conducting visits and assessments of children and families;
- Referring families to community services;
- Investigating abuse/neglect cases and documenting findings;
- Participating in court proceedings and providing testimony;
- Coordinating with legal and tribal partners to safeguard children's interests and support family reunification or permanency;
- Directly serving children in placement;
- Performing other assigned duties.
Additional Information
Travel requirements are extensive; applicants must hold a current driver's license and maintain proper car insurance. State vehicles are available for work-related use.
