Role overview
Northern News Services is hiring a Chief Executive Officer for the Inuit TV Network, a new broadcasting organization that is scheduled to launch this fall in Nunavut, Canada. The CEO will oversee everyday operations, help establish and demonstrate a healthy workplace culture, and provide clear, motivating leadership to the team. This position reports directly to the Board of Directors and carries responsibility for safeguarding the organization’s financial well-being as well as promoting and protecting Inuit TV.
Applicants who are beneficiaries of any Inuit land claims agreement are especially encouraged to apply.
What the role calls for
- Strong communication skills in both Inuktut and English.
- Knowledge of, or prior involvement with, communities throughout Nunavut and Inuit Nunaat.
- A genuine commitment to Inuit language and culture.
- Ability to identify, encourage, and help develop emerging Inuit television producers across the regions.
- Solid administrative capability.
- Experience working with a board of directors.
- Proven leadership ability.
- Confidence handling substantial budgets and collaborating with bookkeepers and accountants.
- Interest in the ethics and public-service role of broadcasting.
- Commitment to education.
