Overview
The Carpenter will be tasked with measuring, cutting, and crafting wood, plastic, and other materials at various Carnival Corporation-operated international destinations, including Celebration Key in The Bahamas. Responsibilities include constructing and installing building frameworks such as walls, floors, and doorframes, as well as inspecting and replacing damaged structures. They also provide direction to laborers and construction helpers.
Key Responsibilities
- Install drywall, assist with wall and ceiling framing, and lay wood, tile, and vinyl flooring.
- Fit, maintain, and repair cabinets, insulation, tiles, and drywall components.
- Build and install doors, cabinets, shelves, and windows with precision.
- Modify wood, plastic, and other materials based on measurements and project requirements.
- Operate hand and power tools necessary for carpentry tasks.
- Assist in demolition work when required and ensure compliance with building codes.
- Maintain detailed construction documentation, including reports, logs, and progress tracking for supervisors and managers.
- Attend project meetings and assist in estimating materials, labor, and timelines.
- Conduct job site safety inspections, maintain equipment, and adhere to OSHA and company safety guidelines.
- Promptly report equipment malfunctions or unsafe conditions and participate in safety trainings.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required; additional education related to hospitality or a similar field is beneficial.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in general carpentry and completion of a relevant apprenticeship or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Proficiency with power tools for cutting and shaping wood and plastics.
- Ability to interpret blueprints accurately and attention to detail.
- Strong multitasking capability and effective communication skills.
- Physical stamina for standing prolonged periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and participation in emergency drills with full use of limbs and senses.
