Overview
Located in Nottinghamshire, UK, Worksop College and Ranby House function as a unified community comprising two schools educating children aged two to eighteen. The institution values holistic development beyond academics, embracing varied student talents including sport and music.
This permanent, full-time post supports the Household team to deliver an effective, secure, and customer-oriented caretaking and portering service throughout all school premises. The role ensures the upkeep, safety, and cleanliness of facilities to create a well-managed environment for pupils, staff, and visitors. The successful applicant must adhere strictly to safeguarding policies regarding children and young people.
Key Duties
- Manage secure opening, locking, and alarm setting of buildings.
- Appropriately operate heating, lighting, and electrical systems.
- Perform end-of-day site inspections to secure areas and switch off utilities.
- Serve as first contact for emergencies, incidents, or security issues when needed.
- Assist with fire drills, urgent responses, and security events.
- May require work outside normal hours.
- Maintain cleanliness and professionalism across all school areas.
- Comply continuously with Health & Safety regulations and internal procedures.
- Relocate furniture, parcels, and equipment within the school and deliver post.
- Support essential cleaning duties if cleaning staff are absent.
- Engage in minor painting and manual labor alongside maintenance team projects.
- Daily collection and appropriate disposal of rubbish, adhering to recycling procedures.
- Coordinate event setups and clearances efficiently, balancing school timetable needs.
- Respond to call-outs within 15 minutes to address issues as possible.
- Receive deliveries and distribute parcels accordingly.
- Assist household and maintenance teams with general maintenance tasks in boarding houses.
- Assist with furniture moving inside boarding and school areas.
- Record gas and electricity meter readings from staff residences on school grounds.
- Escort visitors and contractors throughout the premises as necessary.
- Collect and deliver laundry for boarding houses when required.
- Manage car parking during peak times.
