Job Overview
The Business Improvement Manager is tasked with identifying and capitalizing on new business prospects to accelerate growth and revenue. This role focuses on cultivating strategic partnerships and ensuring the company's adherence to local regulatory mandates including the Minerals and Mining Act and guidelines set by the Minerals Commission. The primary objective is to enhance business expansion, improve productivity, and advance the organization to higher levels of success.
Primary Responsibilities
- Discover and develop new business opportunities across mining and associated sectors such as exploration, extraction, processing, and equipment supply or services.
- Identify potential clients, partnerships, and prospects within the industry.
- Create and implement both internal and external business strategies.
- Draft and deliver proposals, tenders, and bids for mining-related contracts and partnerships.
- Lead contract negotiations ensuring compliance with company goals and Ghanaian mining legislation.
- Coordinate with technical, legal, and financial divisions to construct feasible business arrangements.
- Keep abreast of mining industry trends, governmental policy shifts, and regulatory changes affecting operations.
- Ensure compliance with local content regulations and promote local participation.
- Represent the company at industry events including conferences, trade exhibitions, and networking functions.
- Prepare regular business development updates and revenue forecasts for senior management.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Mining Engineering, Geology, or related disciplines; MBA is a plus.
- Minimum of 7 to 10 years’ experience in business development, preferably within mining, extractive, or closely related industries in Ghana.
- Comprehensive understanding of Ghana’s mining legal framework, especially the Minerals and Mining Act 2006 (Act 703) and its amendments.
- Demonstrable success in securing contracts, partnerships, or new business ventures.
- Strong skills in negotiation, communication, and managing stakeholder relationships.
- Excellent analytical capabilities and strategic planning skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel to mining locations and regional offices as needed.
