redBus stands as India's leading platform for online bus ticketing, facilitating travel for millions across over 150,000 routes worldwide. A significant portion of its expansion is driven by external platforms outside direct control — encompassing B2B2C seller tools, partner APIs, whitelabels, OTAs, and super-app interactions. Product decisions here intricately intertwine with technical architecture choices.

This position calls for a Technical Product Lead skilled equally in crafting succinct Product Requirement Documents and interpreting API contracts or data pipeline schematics. The role blends traditional product management tasks like roadmap curation, prioritization, and stakeholder engagement with a deep technical fluency essential for collaborating with engineering teams on system design, platform scalability, and integrations. Responsibilities span addressing straightforward product needs to navigating complex technical trade-offs affecting scalability.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the product roadmap focused on partner-facing and distribution platforms, balancing short-term deliverables against long-term technical initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with engineers on API frameworks, data pipelines, and system architecture, evaluating technical compromises such as latency, scale, and integration complexity beyond engineering estimates.
• Develop comprehensive documentation: PRDs, user stories, API specs, wireframes, acceptance criteria, and establish success benchmarks for each release.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams including engineering, design, sales, business development, CRM, payments, and supplier sided groups to synchronize roadmaps within the broader product ecosystem.
• Engage directly with external partners like OTAs, travel platforms, super apps, and aggregators to tailor integration and merchandising requirements.
• Conduct and interpret A/B tests on web and mobile platforms, construct dashboards, and formulate data-driven hypotheses using SQL and analytics tools to steer decisions.
• Monitor ongoing product and platform metrics to guide backlog prioritization.
• Define quality acceptance thresholds, partner with QA for release readiness, and equip internal teams (support, channel, field) to ensure seamless feature implementations.

Candidate Profile

• Possess 1 to 3 years of experience combining software engineering/development and product management; suitable for technically adept candidates transitioning into product roles or PMs with hands-on engineering background.
• Hold a bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech); an MBA is advantageous but not a replacement for technical expertise.
• Have a working understanding of APIs, system design fundamentals, and data pipelines to engage substantively in technical conversations with engineering.
• Be proficient in SQL and experienced with web/app analytics and experimentation platforms such as Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or Hotjar.
• Demonstrate familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and full product development lifecycle management.
• Exhibit strong communication abilities to translate technical limitations into business terms and vice versa.
• Show business insight linking distribution, partnerships, and platform decisions directly to revenue growth.
