About the Role
Our client operates as the specialized secondaries division of a prominent global alternative investment firm, boasting over thirty years of experience and managing one of the largest dedicated pools of secondaries capital worldwide. Their investment focus spans GP-led continuation vehicles, LP portfolio acquisitions, and preferred/structured equity, leveraging proprietary data, extensive sponsor relationships, and the financial strength of a diverse multi-strategy franchise.
The London team is expanding, and they are looking for an Associate concentrating on private equity secondaries across European markets. This position involves assessing buyout and growth fund interests as well as continuation vehicles, collaborating closely with senior investment professionals throughout live transactions from initial screening to closing. The role is designed with substantial growth potential leading to a Senior Associate position.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform underwriting for GP-led continuation vehicles and LP portfolio deals, including comprehensive fund-level and asset-level financial modelling, valuation analyses, and scenario planning.
- Carry out detailed quantitative and qualitative due diligence on buyout and growth partnerships and their underlying businesses.
- Develop and deliver investment memoranda presented to the investment committee.
- Assist with transaction execution by managing diligence activities, coordinating legal documentation, and facilitating closing procedures.
- Establish and maintain relationships with sponsors, advisors, and intermediaries, and participate in GP annual meetings and industry events.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in private equity secondaries, traditional private equity, investment banking, or principal investing, with a preference for candidates with direct secondaries involvement.
- Experience across both GP-led and LP-led transactions; strong emphasis on LP portfolio underwriting experience.
- Advanced financial modelling capabilities capable of evaluating fund structures and multi-asset portfolios.
- Demonstrate a strong academic background paired with excellent communication skills.
- Hold a degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a closely related field.
- Currently based in London or willing to relocate, with legal authorization to work in the UK.
Why Join
- Be part of a well-established platform backed by substantial dedicated capital and an extensive history of successful GP-led, LP-led, and structured secondary transactions.
- Gain early-stage exposure to the investment committee and senior sponsors within the organisation.
- Benefit from a transparent advancement path leading to a Senior Associate role within a growing team.
- Compete for attractive remuneration, including participation in carried interest.
