Core Responsibilities
- Plan procurement of raw and packaging materials according to rolling demand forecasts.
- Conduct supplier negotiations ensuring procurement under the best market terms.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders to approved suppliers following agreed conditions.
- Ensure timely receipt of raw and packaging materials per procurement schedules.
- Monitor supplier quality and delivery to drive continuous improvement.
- Manage and control inventory levels, addressing slow and non-moving materials promptly.
- Optimize raw material inventory levels with ongoing improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to reduce cost components in key raw materials.
- Source and evaluate new suppliers for cost efficiency and risk mitigation.
- Track purchasing effectiveness through analysis and management information system reporting.
- Coordinate raw material procurement for new product development in collaboration with technical teams.
- Complete necessary documentation for acquiring new raw materials.
- Engage in negotiations for indirect materials and capital goods procurement.
Skill Requirements
- Technical and financial proficiency for managing direct material spend, especially chemicals and metal packaging procurement.
- Strong planning and negotiation capabilities to secure favorable market terms.
- Familiarity with standard purchase terms and conditions.
- Experience using ERP systems in procurement processes.
- Knowledge of international logistics and customs clearance procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements for sourcing chemical raw materials domestically and internationally.
- Analytical skills for informed decision-making to enhance purchasing performance and reduce risks.
- Market insight related to chemicals used in paints or similar industries.
- Ability to interpret product specifications and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Teamwork and collaborative skills.
Experience and Qualifications
- 7 to 8 years of purchasing experience, preferably within paint, construction chemicals, agro-chemicals, FMCG, personal/home care, pharmaceuticals, or e-commerce category planning and sourcing.
- Preference given to candidates with paint manufacturing industry experience.
- Bachelor's degree required, demonstrating adequate technical and financial knowledge.

This role is located in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
