Assistant Curator, International Art

Role overview

Tate Modern’s curatorial department is looking for a new Assistant Curator, International Art. This is a chance to help shape exhibitions, collection displays, film and performance programmes, commissions, and events, while also supporting Tate’s research approach and the development of its international art collection.

What the role involves

The postholder will contribute to the planning, coordination, and delivery of selected projects across Tate Modern. The work spans exhibition development, display organisation, acquisitions, and programme support, with a strong emphasis on keeping projects well managed and delivered to a high standard.

Experience and expertise needed

Applicants should bring relevant professional experience and a solid understanding of international art from 1900 onwards. Prior work in a museum or gallery setting, particularly with exhibition organisation, is important. The role also calls for strong research and writing ability, careful attention to detail, and confident administrative and organisational skills.

Success in this position depends on the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across the organisation and with external partners. You should also be comfortable using your own initiative, balancing several priorities, and seeing tasks and projects through to completion.
