Role Description
We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our Melbourne Finance team. This position is offered on a part-time (0.8 FTE) or full-time (1.0 FTE) basis and reports directly to the Financial Reporting Manager. The successful candidate will support daily financial operations for our entities in Australia, the UK, and the US, encompassing diverse finance activities such as cash flow management, balance sheet reconciliations, accounts payable, coordination of finance leases, and technology finance and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage cash flow functions for Australia, UK, and US operations including performing reconciliations, forecasting cash flows, and handling payment runs.
- Assist with accounts payable processes by addressing escalations, verifying vendor banking details, tracking overdue invoices, and responding to supplier inquiries.
- Oversee corporate credit card and expense management tasks including administration of AMEX transactions, handling D365 expense queries, and managing cardholder records.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts such as fixed assets, prepayments, accruals, and leases.
- Conduct intercompany reconciliations and prepare financial recharges and interest calculations.
- Maintain HP finance lease documentation and support lease reviews, renewals, and respond to provider queries.
- Support Technology finance activities such as managing purchase orders, invoice coding, addressing budget queries, and handling license renewals.
- Assist with compliance, reporting, and audit obligations including Payment Times Reporting and sustainability reporting.
- Collaborate with internal finance teams, banks, suppliers, leasing companies, and auditors to resolve queries and ensure smooth finance operations.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated experience in a similar Assistant Accountant or related finance position.
- Strong capabilities in financial reconciliation and reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to manage various stakeholders collaboratively.
- Capable of working independently while maintaining a positive team contribution.
- A proactive mindset with eagerness to learn and develop professionally.
- Experience using ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills are highly desirable.
