Position Overview
A growing company based in County Westmeath, Ireland, is seeking a skilled AI Engineer for a permanent, primarily onsite role. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, developing, and deploying AI-driven applications, intelligent agents, and data-centric solutions that automate operations and enhance data-informed decision making.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, develop, and sustain AI agents and workflows that automate organizational processes and data tasks.
- Develop AI software leveraging large language models (LLMs), incorporating external models and services, while optimizing prompts, context handling, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions, including the use of vector databases and AI-powered data pipelines which merge structured and unstructured data.
- Implement integrations via Model Context Protocol (MCP) and APIs, linking AI systems with enterprise applications, databases, and external services.
- Deploy and manage production-grade AI services with a focus on monitoring, testing, observability, and performance enhancements.
- Establish AI evaluation frameworks to assess response quality, accuracy, latency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Apply MLOps and LLMOps best practices such as version control, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), containerization, and automated deployment.
- Ensure AI implementations conform to security, governance, privacy, and responsible AI standards.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers, data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver comprehensive AI solutions.
- Document all technical specifications including architecture, integrations, deployment strategies, and operational protocols.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in software engineering, data engineering, or AI/ML development with demonstrated delivery of production-grade solutions.
- Proficiency in Python programming and experience with LLM API integration such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or similar.
- Familiarity with AI frameworks including LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or comparable technologies.
- Knowledge of the Model Context Protocol, Retrieval-Augmented Generation techniques, vector databases, embedding methodologies, and prompt engineering.
- Experience working with Azure AI services or other cloud-based AI platforms.
- Understanding of MLOps and LLMOps including containerization with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and AI system monitoring and evaluation.
- Strong awareness of AI-related aspects such as security, governance, privacy frameworks, and responsible AI practices.
- Ability to translate complex business needs into effective AI solutions and communicate these with both technical and non-technical team members.
