About the Role

We are seeking Analysts and Senior Analysts to join our Macroeconomics & Fiscal Policy team on a permanent basis. The team’s core responsibility is to provide advice on fiscal strategy and macroeconomic policy frameworks, collaborating closely with other teams to modernize fiscal and Budget processes.

The role entails providing timely and high-profile policy advice, especially during the Budget cycle or in reaction to new economic developments and shocks. It also involves delivering strategic counsel for incoming Governments and undertaking long-term stewardship activities.

Key focus areas include:

  • Fiscal strategy analysis and recommendations concerning prudent government debt levels, fiscal targets, and understanding medium-term expenditure and revenue pressures.
  • Macroeconomic policy framework guidance, including oversight of monetary policy and coordination between monetary and fiscal policies, in collaboration with the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.
  • Modernizing Budget and fiscal frameworks by advising Ministers on improving transparency, accountability, and sustainability within fiscal strategies and Budget settings.

You will manage or contribute to various projects aligned with your expertise and interests, featuring engagement with senior leadership and numerous development opportunities.
