Position Overview
The Account Manager role involves overseeing multiple procurement channels and collaborating with clients to meet target revenue and profit margins. This position demands interaction with customers to address their needs primarily by tracking bid boards, responding to quote requests via phone and email, fostering repeat client relationships, and maintaining an active sales pipeline. The professional is expected to possess thorough knowledge of the products and solutions offered.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding products, pricing, availability, applications, and credit terms through various communication methods.
- Advise customers on product selections based on their mission objectives, requirements, and preferences.
- Provide quotations including pricing, credit or contract terms, warranty details, and delivery schedules.
- Utilize the ERP system to process orders efficiently.
- Record all quotes, customer information, and sales opportunities into Salesforce and actively manage the sales pipeline.
- Engage with clients post-sale or after contract finalization to resolve issues and offer continuous support.
- Distribute product samples and catalogs to customers.
- Formulate marketing approaches to access new contacts within the existing account base.
- Achieve sales and margin goals set by the Director.
- Conduct ongoing market research in assigned business channels to assist in territory planning, vendor relationships, and dealer record management.
- Respond to unsolicited preferred vendor opportunities related to TLS SOE and FESE contracts.
- Collaborate with the Regional Sales team by providing leads from bid boards or inquiries in their regions.
- Continuously monitor bid boards such as DIBBS, GSA Ebuy, Unison, and SAM.gov for potential opportunities within the designated market segment.
Qualifications and Skills
- Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for all organizational levels.
- Comprehensive knowledge of assigned sales markets as well as company goals and targets.
- Capability to establish rapport and credibility with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
- Customer service orientation with skills to manage challenging situations.
Education and Experience
- Associate's Degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience in government sales and federal contracting is advantageous.
Technical Proficiency
- Proficient in MS Office or similar software, with strong internet research and database entry skills.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Familiarity with Salesforce is considered a plus.
Work Environment
- Standard office setting.
