Job description
Role Overview
Become an integral member of the on-site Yard Operative team at IPL's Sittingbourne location. This permanent position involves performing diverse yard and warehouse duties with a focus on safety, accuracy, and efficiency, while maintaining the highest health and safety standards.
Work Schedule and Location
- Shift pattern: 4 days on, 4 days off
- Working hours: 7 PM to 7 AM (night shifts)
- Worksite: IPL Sittingbourne, on site
- Employment type: Permanent
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain the yard and workplace environment in accordance with company standards and legal regulations, ensuring cleanliness and tidiness
- Ensure timely emptying and replacement of waste Dolavs
- Communicate with external waste disposal providers about deliveries and pickups
- Organise the yard area to enforce proper waste segregation as per company policies
- Adhere strictly to health and safety protocols, report incidents or concerns to management promptly
- Coordinate with the dispatch team to enable efficient movement of trays from the warehouse to the yard
- Receive and inspect incoming stock following company procedures, including proper labeling and segregation
- Operate counterbalance forklifts (MHE trucks) responsibly, performing daily safety checks and following warehouse guidelines
- Handle storage, transport, and security of stock and ancillary items carefully, complying with procedural, food hygiene, and safety standards
Candidate Requirements
- Must have valid counterbalance forklift truck certification and experience operating such machinery
- Previous yard or warehouse experience, preferably within fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) or a similar operational environment
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations applied within yard or warehouse settings
- Good interpersonal communication abilities and teamwork skills
- Ability to build constructive working relationships both inside and outside the company
