About Zoomlion Kenya Limited
Zoomlion Kenya Limited, part of the Jospong Group of Companies, is looking to hire experienced and safety-oriented Waste Truck Drivers for their Waste Collection operations in Nairobi.
Key Duties
- Operate assigned rear loader compaction trucks, roll-on/roll-off trucks, or skip loader trucks safely while completing scheduled waste collection routes.
- Transport collected waste properly to transfer stations, recovery points, or disposal facilities.
- Perform daily pre-operation inspections of vehicles and promptly report any defects.
- Handle hydraulic lifting and compaction mechanisms with safety precautions.
- Ensure waste is loaded, weight is correctly balanced, and containers are securely fastened.
- Maintain precise records including driver logs, trip sheets, fuel consumption reports, and route documentation.
- Monitor and encourage optimal fuel efficiency.
- Comply with all traffic, occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Keep the vehicle clean and assist with scheduled preventive maintenance.
- Report any missed collections, route obstacles, incidents, or operational problems.
- Maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with customers and the public.
Qualifications and Skills
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent qualification.
- Possession of a valid Kenyan heavy commercial vehicle driving licence (Class BCE or relevant class).
- At least three years of experience driving heavy commercial vehicles.
- Sound knowledge of Nairobi traffic routes and traffic safety measures.
- Strong awareness of safety procedures, dependability, and accountability.
- Flexibility to work in shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Experience in operating waste collection trucks.
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems.
- Background in municipal or commercial waste management.
- Defensive Driving Certification.
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience utilizing GPS, fleet management, or electronic trip-recording technologies.
