Waste Truck Driver

Zoomlion Kenya Limited, part of the Jospong Group of Companies, is looking to hire experienced and safety-oriented Waste Truck Drivers for their Waste Collection operations in Nairobi.

Key Duties

• Operate assigned rear loader compaction trucks, roll-on/roll-off trucks, or skip loader trucks safely while completing scheduled waste collection routes.
• Transport collected waste properly to transfer stations, recovery points, or disposal facilities.
• Perform daily pre-operation inspections of vehicles and promptly report any defects.
• Handle hydraulic lifting and compaction mechanisms with safety precautions.
• Ensure waste is loaded, weight is correctly balanced, and containers are securely fastened.
• Maintain precise records including driver logs, trip sheets, fuel consumption reports, and route documentation.
• Monitor and encourage optimal fuel efficiency.
• Comply with all traffic, occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Keep the vehicle clean and assist with scheduled preventive maintenance.
• Report any missed collections, route obstacles, incidents, or operational problems.
• Maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with customers and the public.

Qualifications and Skills

• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent qualification.
• Possession of a valid Kenyan heavy commercial vehicle driving licence (Class BCE or relevant class).
• At least three years of experience driving heavy commercial vehicles.
• Sound knowledge of Nairobi traffic routes and traffic safety measures.
• Strong awareness of safety procedures, dependability, and accountability.
• Flexibility to work in shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Experience in operating waste collection trucks.
• Familiarity with hydraulic systems.
• Background in municipal or commercial waste management.
• Defensive Driving Certification.
• Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience utilizing GPS, fleet management, or electronic trip-recording technologies.
