Role Overview
The Transport Operator will support planning and scheduling for the General Fleet operation, helping ensure customer commitments are met. You will work alongside the Transport Manager and wider team to keep the site running smoothly on a day-to-day basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Transport Manager in leading and motivating the transport team so that people and assets are used efficiently and commercial goals, profit targets, and service standards are achieved.
- Make sure deliveries and collections are completed to customer requirements while keeping track of on-time performance, shift revenue, and vehicle utilisation.
- Carry out daily and weekly driver debriefs.
- Manage driver holidays and expenses through the People System.
- Check that vehicle inspections and defect records are completed correctly using the Vehicle Check App.
- Ensure units and trailers are made available for inspection according to the scheduled timetable.
- Coordinate collection timings and delivery bookings with customers.
- Work with the Fleet Team to ensure defects are resolved promptly.
- Help achieve daily revenue targets for each shift and vehicle.
- Hold regular discussions with Line Managers to support efficient operations.
- Look for additional opportunities to add value to current contracts.
- Confirm that all contracted work is covered in line with customer expectations.
- Follow business policies and procedures at all times.
Requirements
- Experience in a comparable logistics or transport role is required.
- Experience using the Manpack TMS system would be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of legal compliance, driver hours, and Working Time Directive rules is needed.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Good organisational ability and the capacity to prioritise workload effectively are important.
- High attention to detail is required.
- Ability to work to deadlines is necessary.
- Must be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Confident using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Working Hours
The role follows a rotating pattern of 06:00 to 18:00 hours, on a 5 on / 5 off / 4 on / 5 off / 5 on / 4 off schedule.

The salary is between 36,000 and 42,000 per annum, depending on experience.
