Training Officer (Living Skills)

Position Overview

The Training Officer supporting Senior Training Officers will focus on life and work skills training tailored for trainees with disabilities. The role aims to enhance trainees' independence, vocational skills, and overall well-being within a structured program.

Key Responsibilities

• Support trainees in personal care activities including feeding, grooming, toileting, and diaper changing, while maintaining hygiene.
• Develop and coordinate therapeutic and training materials using a proactive, team-based, creative, and individual-centered approach focusing on daily living, communication, social-emotional development, community integration, recreational and vocational training.
• Identify trainees with potential for open employment opportunities.
• Collaborate with Senior Training Officers, Learning Coaches, therapists, and psychologists to design interventions and manage challenging behaviors.
• Assist in creating and implementing Individual Training Plans (ITPs) and maintaining updated training and assessment documentation.
• Provide regular updates and training to caregivers to support trainee care at home.
• Ensure safety protocols, work hazard guidelines, and training procedures are followed within the center.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of training spaces and facilities.
• Document trainees’ daily activities, attendance, and progress comprehensively.
• Conduct work process analyses and recommend improvements to enhance vocational skills, productivity, and efficiency.
• Report incidents or accidents occurring during training or work tasks promptly to the Manager.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum education level of "O" or "A" level or ITE certification.
• Preferably 1-2 years’ experience working with persons with disabilities.
• Background in Special Education, Social or Community Services with exposure to youth or adults with disabilities is advantageous.
• Experience in vocational training and coaching is a plus.
• Committed to social inclusion and promoting trainee independence.
• Patient, positive attitude, and passion for working with adults with disabilities.
• Strong dedication towards care and development of adults with disabilities.
• Enthusiastic about life and vocational skills training and coaching.
• Self-driven, team-oriented, adaptable, and able to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
• Excellent communication, people management, and technical skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong observational abilities.
