Job description
About Timberline and the Opportunity
Timberline is a distinguished supplier specializing in architectural timber cladding, decking, and interior products, operating under the Buildpro Group. Guided by the principle 'Solve, Create, Deliver', Timberline collaborates with architects, builders, and developers nationwide to bring exceptional construction projects to fruition.
This senior leadership role is based in Auckland and focuses on driving Timberline's strategic expansion throughout the North Island. While the brand has gained strong traction in the South Island, the North Island market is still developing, presenting a unique growth opportunity. The successful candidate will establish a sustainable and autonomous business unit in Auckland, working closely with the Managing Director to increase market presence, demand, and revenue.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of Timberline's growth strategy by forging key strategic partnerships with builders, architects, designers, developers, and project managers.
- Generate early sales aligned with strategic customer priorities, increasing revenue and profit margins in the Auckland region.
- Influence product specification decisions by positioning Timberline's exclusive timber products as preferred solutions to industry partners.
- Promote Timberline's products within targeted industry sectors by educating stakeholders about technical, design, and performance advantages.
- Develop foundational elements of a self-reliant Auckland business unit, including market awareness and sales pipeline discipline, progressively building the team and operational capacity to scale.
- Provide market insights and strategic guidance directly to the Managing Director, contributing as a senior leader within Timberline and the broader Buildpro Group.
Candidate Profile
- Proven extensive experience in building products, timber, construction, or architectural supply sectors; timber-specific experience is favorable but not mandatory.
- An established network of professional relationships with architects, builders, developers, group home builders, and project managers.
- Demonstrated success in cultivating high-level, trust-based relationships and understanding specification-driven sales dynamics.
- Strategic commercial mindset focused on long-term partnerships and sustainable pipeline development rather than short-term sales.
- Leadership experience capable of independently managing a business unit with support from an existing sales team and operational resources.
- Comfortable visiting building sites, adept at initiating contact to open opportunities, possess a full, clean New Zealand driver’s license, and willingness to travel beyond Auckland as needed.
- Highly driven and capable leader enthusiastic about autonomy, strategic influence, and business growth.
Compensation and Benefits
This senior position offers a competitive salary package that includes a base pay, an incentive program aligned with strategic goals, a company vehicle, and necessary business tools. The package will be customized based on the candidate’s experience, network, and abilities. The incentive plan rewards establishing fruitful, long-lasting partnerships and market presence, recognizing that building a defensible market position requires patience and commitment.
Additional Application Instructions
Interested applicants should apply by submitting their CV and a cover letter detailing relevant industry connections and their experience within the sector.
