Role Overview

The Sustainability Programs - Compliance position is based in London and is a full-time remote role focused on implementing and managing Waymo's environmental and sustainability strategies. The role reports to the Head of Sustainability & Environment and contributes to environmental standards, regulatory compliance, and sustainability initiatives across the organization's products and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead sustainability initiatives aligning with international environmental standards across diverse company functions such as clean energy, fleet management, hardware, and transit integration.
• Oversee environmental compliance with regulatory mandates, coordinate mitigation plans, and evaluate sustainability impacts quantitatively.
• Work collaboratively with internal engineering, operations, and product teams alongside external agencies including NGOs, government bodies, and industry counterparts to promote sustainability efforts.
• Handle compliance, reporting, and verification requirements on an international scale.
• Effectively communicate Waymo's sustainability progress through reports, presentations, marketing materials, policy documents, and public comments.
• Support the development and auditing of greenhouse gas inventories and mitigation models facilitating global expansion and ensuring environmental claims are verified.

Qualifications and Experience

• Demonstrated expertise in establishing environmental compliance and sustainability programs within complex, highly regulated industries.
• Ability to translate sophisticated environmental regulations into actionable compliance frameworks suited for international transportation ecosystems and large fleet operations.
• Strategic development and execution of sustainability plans that set clear objectives, prioritize initiatives, and measure ongoing achievements.
• Strong project management capabilities to drive multi-disciplinary sustainability projects from initiation through to completion.
• Technical proficiency in designing and implementing frameworks to quantify environmental performance and net benefits.
• Superior communication skills to effectively collaborate internally with diverse teams and externally with partners.

Preferred Skills

• Extensive background in environmental management with a focus on compliance and risk reduction in regulated sectors.
• Experience creating and applying clean energy and lifecycle sustainability programs.
• Track record of establishing, documenting, and refining comprehensive reporting workflows for operational processes.

Additional Information

• Travel requirement up to 20-25%.
• The role offers a competitive salary range between £88,000 and £92,500 GBP annually, with eligibility for discretionary bonuses, equity plans, and benefits.
