Job description
Overview
This position is based at Derriford Army Reserve Centre in Plymouth, within the 165 Port and Maritime Regiment Headquarters of the Royal Logistics Corps (RLC). The regiment supports military port, maritime, and logistics operations to enable operational success. The Stores Person role supports this mission by managing equipment, supplies, and inventory accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain stock levels by requisitioning or returning stores as required.
- Load and unload equipment and stores from vehicles, including some manual handling tasks.
- Process all store transactions relevant to the defence supply chain with accuracy.
- Manage the unit's Attractive to Criminals and Terrorist Organisation (ACTO) account.
- Prepare store records for audits and maintain accountability documentation.
- Monitor the regiment’s office equipment register.
- Serve as a fire warden for Derriford Army Reserve Centre.
- Perform duties as Regimental Ammunition stores person and act as Authorised Representative for Ammunition on the road.
- Operate manual handling equipment as required.
- Provide additional support to the Quarter Masters Department as needed.
Training & Development
Full training will be provided, which may involve travel and attending courses to meet job requirements.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a cooperative team player working alongside military and civilian personnel, taking responsibility for accurate record-keeping and timely supply of materials. Physical capability to handle manual tasks, including lifting boxes up to 25kg (men) or 16kg (women), is required.

Work Environment and Benefits
The role is full-time at 37 hours per week, on-site at Derriford Army Reserve Centre. The salary is £24,549 per year, with an additional £7,111 employer contribution towards a Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension. Additional Information
- Employment is subject to a six-month probation period for external recruits new to the Civil Service.
