Position Overview
As a Senior Staff Sales Engineer, you will join the rapidly growing sales engineering team to provide deep technical expertise in qualifying and closing deals. Your role will involve delivering compelling product demonstrations, leading technical presentations, and supporting customers through evaluations to articulate the distinctive capabilities of CockroachDB.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with sales teams to introduce and advocate for CockroachDB solutions tailored to diverse customer challenges.
- Conduct detailed product and solution presentations, develop proof-of-concept demos, and prototype integrations using CockroachDB.
- Work in partnership with product management, engineering, and support teams to address client technical concerns and enhance the product.
- Identify technical obstacles to adoption and formulate engineering strategies to overcome these impediments.
Role Expectations
In the initial 30 days, you will focus on gaining in-depth knowledge of CockroachDB technology and sales processes, actively listening in on customer calls and networking internally. By 90 days, you are expected to lead customer meetings independently, manage proof-of-concept initiatives, and collaborate with account managers to devise regional market approaches and account strategies.
Candidate Profile
- 10 to 12+ years of experience gathering requirements, architecting solutions, delivering presentations, and educating prospective users or teams on software akin to CockroachDB.
- Background in software or infrastructure development focused on scalable, distributed systems with a desire to maintain hands-on coding involvement.
- Strong enthusiasm for solving intricate technical problems and an expert-level understanding of modern infrastructure and database technologies.
- Proven skills in building and nurturing relationships with partners, customers, and users in open-source communities.
- Demonstrated integration of AI tools into routine workflows to enhance productivity, decision-making, and output quality.
- Expertise in leveraging AI for key tasks such as research, drafting, analysis, and planning as a standard practice.
- Collaborative mindset ensuring continual feedback loops that inform product refinement.
- Willingness to travel as required to meet clients, attend industry events, and support business objectives.
