Partly is headquartered in Austin, Texas, and also has offices in London, Christchurch, and Auckland. For onboarding, the company connects new hires to their nearest office, and also brings the full team together for quarterly Season Openers, with travel and accommodation covered. A relocation allowance is available for people moving to join the team. This role is based in the Christchurch office.

Role overview

You will collaborate with the engineering team to solve challenging problems and build high-quality software that supports Partly’s core product experience.

What you will do

• Work on mission-critical systems that power the core SaaS and API platform.
• Build features that are dependable, scalable, fault-tolerant, and accurate.
• Create a strong product experience for businesses using the platform.
• Share development practices and contribute to engineering excellence across the team.
• Develop deep expertise in the complex and underserved auto parts domain.

Candidate profile

Applicants should bring at least 5 years of experience building complex applications, along with strong fundamentals in computer science and software engineering. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with data structures, concurrency, architecture, APIs, testing, and design patterns.

You should also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to collaborate effectively, and understand databases and data modelling across both relational and NoSQL systems. Experience with reliable distributed systems is also important. Prior exposure to automotive parts or Rust would be an added advantage.
