Senior QA Automation Engineer (Playwright)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior QA Automation Engineer with 10 to 15 years in software quality assurance and test automation. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise with Playwright and modern automation frameworks, demonstrating leadership in QA efforts, development of scalable automation solutions, and seamless integration of automated tests into CI/CD workflows. This role involves close collaboration with development, product, and DevOps teams to ensure software excellence.

Primary Responsibilities

• Create, enhance, and support scalable automation frameworks primarily using Playwright with TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Lead comprehensive automation strategies for enterprise web applications.
• Design and execute diverse automated test suites covering functional, regression, smoke, integration, API, and full end-to-end scenarios.
• Work with developers, architects, product owners, and DevOps teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Integrate automated tests within CI/CD pipelines leveraging tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
• Review project requirements and contribute quality assurance insights during planning and design stages.
• Analyze defects to identify root causes and ensure their timely rectification.
• Define and enforce QA best practices, automation standards, and code guidelines.
• Mentor junior and mid-level QA engineers to build team capability.
• Continuously improve automation coverage, speed, and overall test effectiveness.
• Engage actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, and releases.
• Prepare quality metrics, dashboards, and stakeholder reports.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• 10 to 15 years of professional experience in software QA and automation.
• Minimum 4 years of practical Playwright experience.
• Proficiency in programming with TypeScript or JavaScript.
• Expertise in automation framework design employing Page Object Model or similar techniques.
• Strong background in API automation using REST Assured, Postman, or comparable tools.
• Good understanding of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with SQL and database validations.
• Knowledge of Git and version control systems.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools including Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
• Competence with defect tracking systems like Jira or Azure Boards.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication abilities and experience managing stakeholder expectations.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with performance testing tools like JMeter or k6.
• Exposure to Selenium, Cypress, or Appium automation frameworks.
• Experience testing microservices and distributed systems.
• Qualifications such as ISTQB or equivalent QA certifications.

Educational Background

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related fields with a strong foundation in software quality assurance.
