Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Full-Stack Engineer with over five years of experience in product engineering to join our Core Platform team. You will develop impactful features ranging from real-time flood risk visualizations to automated permit workflows that significantly reduce response times from weeks down to hours. This role entails direct collaboration with government users tackling climate adaptation challenges on the front lines.

Your responsibilities will span backend and user-facing development utilizing TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL with PostGIS for geospatial processing, and AWS cloud services. Your work involves handling hundreds of geospatial datasets, designing user-friendly interfaces for complex grant processes, and building APIs integrating diverse government platforms, modernizing America’s climate resilience efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate seamlessly with engineering, design, product management, and customer success teams to develop solutions based on end-user feedback.
• Navigate ambiguous problems to deliver effective products, applying sound judgment and prioritizing progress.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to design and implement features efficiently.
• Own complete feature lifecycles including database schema design and front-end implementation, delivering polished products promptly.
• Focus predominantly on creating new capabilities requested by customers while enhancing system performance and reliability.
• Take accountability for the health and stability of the systems you build through participation in on-call rotations and proactive monitoring.
• Contribute to elevating team standards by refining engineering practices, mentoring teammates, and influencing technology choices.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience delivering reliable, user-centered software products with full ownership over features.
• Expertise in full-stack development, especially with TypeScript, React, and associated backend technologies.
• Advanced skills in SQL and database design, thinking beyond queries to structure data effectively.
• Proven leadership through mentorship, code review, and sound technical decision-making.
• Ability to independently interpret vague requirements and produce complex feature implementations.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and developer tools to improve engineering workflows.
• Desirable experience includes AWS, containerization, PostGIS/geospatial technologies, ETL pipelines, or work in government or climate technology sectors, though we value strong instincts over an exact resume match.

Compensation and Benefits

• Competitive salary range between $185,000 and $215,000 annually, adjusted by skills, experience, and qualifications.
