Job description

Role Summary

The position is for a School Applications Officer within Lancashire County Council, based in Preston, England. This permanent, full-time role offers a salary range between £40,777 and £46,142 per annum and requires working 37 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert support and consultancy for school staff using SIMS or related systems, serving as a lead specialist in at least one SIMS module and expanding expertise to other areas.
  • Deliver support through managing calls at the Service Centre, ensuring incident records in the Service Now system are maintained accurately.
  • Develop, maintain, and distribute user support materials on the Digital Hub and conduct training sessions for school personnel.
  • Offer consultancy and conduct presentations in schools to assist with specialist application areas.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of service delivery and support options.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience either supporting school staff with SIMS or substantial end-user knowledge demonstrating the capacity for evolving into a support, training, and consultancy role.
  • Expertise in at least one of the following systems: FMS, Assessment Manager, or Nova T6.
  • Strong skills in advanced data manipulation technologies such as Power BI and Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities with confidence in building relationships both face-to-face and through digital communication channels.
