About the Role and Company
We are seeking a skilled Sandblaster/Painter responsible for preparing parts and equipment for painting and protective coatings through sandblasting and surface preparation. This full-time position is based at the Mitsue Industrial Site in Slave Lake, Alberta and reports directly to the Production Manager.

Job Responsibilities
- Adhere strictly to all company policies, health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Carry out daily equipment inspections and hazard assessments before starting work.
- Order and monitor inventory of materials and supplies to ensure smooth operation of the body shop.
- Minimize waste by evaluating repairable items, preparing cost estimates, and planning repair work efficiently.
- Prepare surfaces by sanding areas slated for painting, then prime and paint the repaired areas.
- Maintain all body shop tools and machinery in excellent working condition through regular cleaning and upkeep.
- Complete all required documentation and permits accurately and promptly.
- Perform sandblasting on parts and equipment to meet precise specifications.
- Report any safety concerns or equipment deficiencies immediately to the Production Manager.
Candidate Requirements
- Preferred possession of a Journeyman Painting certification or, alternatively, extensive relevant experience demonstrating proficiency in the trade.
- At least one year of professional experience in an industrial sandblasting setting.
- A valid driver’s license is mandatory.
- Experience operating skid steers or wheel loaders is a plus.
- Certifications in forklift operation and aerial work platforms are advantageous.
- Knowledgeable about various industrial coating types.
- Capability to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Proficient in using tools and equipment related to sandblasting and painting safely and effectively.
- Exceptional attention to detail accompanied by strong organizational skills.
- Self-driven with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Mechanical aptitude is considered an additional asset.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Ability to lift and carry weights up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working at heights, involving climbing, crouching, stooping, and maintaining awkward postures.
- Willingness to wear specialized personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and blaster hoods.
- Work will involve both indoor and outdoor environments, subject to varying weather conditions.
- Exposure to dust, fumes, and working from elevated platforms or scaffolding is expected.
