Overview
As a Retail Manager at Vivo Energy based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, you will spearhead the implementation of the company's retail strategy, encompassing network planning, marketing efforts, operational excellence, and strategic initiatives. This position focuses on achieving volume targets for fuel and lubricants, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with the group's standards and safety policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute the Vivo Energy retail strategy including network and marketing plans as well as operational improvements aligned with key strategic directions.
- Achieve volume and financial objectives related to fuel and lubricant customer retention.
- Deploy strategic support tools such as marketing and network plans and automation to meet targets.
- Control operational expenditure budgets rigorously and oversee capital expenditure within set limits and schedules.
- Engage and lead the retail team to align with company strategy, supervise retailer management, and foster team engagement toward goals.
- Coach and manage the retail leadership team to maintain business oversight and track performance against objectives.
- Ensure the team receives the necessary support to meet targets, including ongoing skills development and performance management.
- Assist the Managing Director with managing stakeholder relationships effectively.
- Manage contracts, credit processes, and compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) standards.
- Handle dealer relations proactively to promptly resolve operational challenges.
- Communicate the company's vision, strategy, and new initiatives clearly to retailers.
- Ensure adherence to Group Standards, including global credit policies and memoranda of agreements, addressing potential issues proactively.
- Lead negotiations for non-traditional income contracts in alignment with the retail strategy.
Challenges
- Coordinate across geographies to manage retail sites achieving agreed financial and market outcomes by growing the business and enhancing operational and customer service quality.
- Support nationwide implementation of the retail strategy at all operational levels to maximize profitability and business control.
- Monitor and enhance the capabilities of the country's retail and sales teams.
- Maintain cost efficiency throughout operations.
