Job description
About the Role
We are a reinsurance brokerage firm with a strong footprint in multiple markets, seeking ambitious brokers who are proactive, strategic thinkers and client-focused professionals. This role demands more than just administrative duties; it calls for individuals who appreciate broking as an art that involves marketing, negotiating, and closing deals with excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage assigned markets and portfolios comprehensively, including all enquiries, renewals, communications, and deadlines.
- Transform received offers into finalized placements by structuring, marketing, and negotiating with reinsurers.
- Review risk submissions, slips, and underwriting information to craft clear and precise market presentations.
- Conduct negotiations on terms such as capacity, pricing, and conditions to finalize deals promptly.
- Advise clients on proper reinsurance structures and solutions including limits, layers, markets, and wording implications.
- Contribute reinsurance expertise during negotiation, risk management, and claims discussions.
- Prepare complete placement documentation such as slips, submissions, policy wordings, endorsements, and customized clauses.
- Establish and nurture relationships with clients, reinsurers, and partners through ongoing professional engagement.
- Represent the company at key markets and industry conferences, potentially with travel commitment.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance in all communications and documentation.
- Uphold strict adherence to internal standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Generate timely monthly reports detailing pipeline status, conversions, and market feedback.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in facultative reinsurance broking with minimal supervision, particularly in high-pressure, detail-oriented environments.
- Ownership mindset with proactive pipeline management and closing of tasks without reminders.
- Able to seamlessly switch focus between submissions, analytics, negotiations, and documentation while maintaining accuracy.
- Commercially focused on outcomes and quality conversion rather than administrative forwarding of emails.
- High standards of documentation quality and attention to detail.
- Must not view broking merely as an administrative role and must be comfortable with negotiation.
- Independent and confident in managing workload without continuous supervision.
- Respect confidentiality and handle documentation meticulously.
Qualifications & Experience
- At least 4 years' experience in facultative reinsurance broking.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Finance or a related discipline.
- Professional insurance qualifications such as CII or equivalent are advantageous.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and client relationship management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication, with additional regional languages considered a plus.
- Exceptional time management capabilities, able to handle multiple cases across various time zones under pressure.
- Possess high professionalism, confidentiality, and ownership.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to influence market growth and strategy.
- End-to-end ownership of your portfolios and markets.
- Structured processes coupled with the autonomy to exercise judgment and initiative.
- Travel opportunities for key markets and conferences.
- Competitive salary with benefits including visa sponsorship, medical and life insurance, annual leave, and performance-related bonuses.
