Overview
The Community Engagement and Leadership Education (CELE) unit at the University of Washington seeks a Program Manager for Leadership Education. This role reports to the Director of Community Engagement and focuses on overseeing the Husky Leadership Certificate program along with associated Civic Fellowships and Awards. The position involves student advising, program coordination, fostering campus partnerships, and supporting leadership education initiatives across the university.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Husky Leadership Certificate (HLC) and integrate it with existing programs to enhance campus leadership opportunities.
- Build collaborative networks among campus partners to support leadership education communities of practice.
- Advise students involved in civic fellowships and scholarships, facilitating leadership development, reflective learning, and network opportunities.
- Design and deliver co-curricular events such as workshops and information sessions on civic leadership and leadership education themes.
- Contribute to the expansion and integration of leadership education content throughout the undergraduate experience.
- Collaborate with CELE staff to uphold organizational culture aligned with values and strategic priorities.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, including maintaining online systems and web content related to civic leadership learning.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience. Candidates require strong interpersonal skills to build partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders including faculty, staff, students, and community members. Effective communication abilities, both written and oral, are essential. The role demands initiative-taking within a team context alongside independently managing projects. Problem-solving skills, organizational aptitude, creativity, and ability to meet deadlines under pressure are critical. A demonstrated appreciation for diversity and inclusion within academic settings is required.
Preferred qualifications include experience in college student leadership development programming, commitment to socially responsible leadership and equity-centered education, as well as program development and management expertise.
Additional Details
This position is primarily on campus at Mary Gates Hall with eligibility for up to two days of telework weekly. The role is funded through June 30, 2028, with potential extension based on future funding. Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary is fixed at $69,072. Staff benefit information is available on the university website. This full-time role operates during standard daytime hours and is classified as a regular ongoing position.
