About Wood and the Role
Wood is seeking a seasoned PMC Safety Officer with expertise in road safety to support ADNOC Onshore projects in Abu Dhabi. This full-time, on-site position involves ensuring rigorous adherence to road and traffic safety protocols, overseeing contractor and personnel compliance throughout the project site.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and enforce road safety and traffic management requirements across the project location.
- Conduct frequent inspections of site roads, access points, traffic detours, intersections, parking facilities, and pedestrian pathways.
- Ensure adherence to ADNOC safety standards, project-specific HSE conditions, and approved traffic management directives.
- Monitor contractor observance of site speed regulations, vehicle movement guidelines, seat belt usage, reversing procedures, and safe driving practices.
- Perform daily site audits to identify hazards, unsafe driving behaviors, and potential traffic issues.
- Collaborate with contractors and construction teams to implement corrective and preventive measures.
- Review and supervise Traffic Management Plans, road safety setups including signage, barricades, lighting, and other traffic control measures.
- Confirm compliance of heavy and light vehicles, mobile equipment, and drivers with project standards and certifications.
- Engage in road safety audits, inspections, promotional campaigns, and awareness efforts.
- Investigate traffic-related incidents and near misses, advising on prevention strategies.
- Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, incidents, corrective measures, and safety data.
- Coordinate with PMC HSE teams, ADNOC officials, contractors, security personnel, and site operations on road safety matters.
- Provide coaching and guidance on safe driving and road safety practices to personnel and contractors.
- Intervene or escalate in cases of unsafe vehicle movements threatening personnel or assets.
- Contribute to toolbox talks, HSE meetings, safety campaigns, and site inductions related to traffic safety.
- Support emergency responses for vehicular or road-related incidents.
- Ensure prompt tracking and resolution of road safety issues.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in HSE, Engineering, Transportation, Road Safety, or a related field.
- 8 to 10 years of pertinent experience in road or traffic safety, ideally within oil and gas, EPC/EPCM, or major infrastructure projects.
- Prior involvement in ADNOC Onshore projects is highly advantageous.
- Experience working within PMC environments is strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of road safety, traffic management, vehicle safety, and construction site traffic control.
- Skilled in contractor oversight and execution of Traffic Management Plans.
- NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent HSE certification is desirable.
- Possession of a valid UAE driving license is preferred.
- Effective communication, coordination, reporting, and inspection capabilities.
- Familiarity with large-scale oil & gas operational environments onshore.
- Knowledgeable about ADNOC HSE standards and protocols.
- Experienced with managing site traffic involving various vehicle types including heavy machinery and cranes.
- Capable of autonomous site work and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
- Prepared to work within a site-based PMC role.
