About the Role
Join a locally owned Shoppers Drug Mart store to deliver health, beauty, and convenience services within your community, always focusing on exceptional customer care. As the on-duty pharmacist, you will oversee pharmacy operations, provide consultations to customers and healthcare providers, dispense medication, and assist with dispensary maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome all customers approaching the pharmacy.
- Comply fully with federal and provincial legal, regulatory, and privacy standards, including managing customer confidentiality and consent.
- Provide counselling on prescriptions and over-the-counter products.
- Utilize your professional expertise to offer services within expanded scope of practice.
- Ensure prescriptions are accurate and appropriate before dispensing.
- Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
- Maintain all necessary records in line with legal and policy requirements.
- Control dispensary access, safeguarding inventory and patient confidentiality.
- Regularly manage workflow queues and will-call bins, following established SOPs.
- Monitor stock levels to identify expired inventory and oversee medication orders from wholesalers.
- Meet all compliance standards for controlled substances, including documentation and reporting to Health Canada and regulatory authorities.
- Maintain cleanliness and professional appearance of pharmacy work areas.
- Engage with financial reporting and address store communications promptly.
- File incident reports for medication or privacy-related occurrences involving customers or staff.
Required Experience and Skills
- Ability to think independently and make informed decisions regarding operational issues.
- Capability to plan, coordinate, delegate tasks, and coach pharmacy team members.
- Proven track record of driving business growth, leading by example, and supporting corporate initiatives.
- Strong dedication to delivering excellent customer service and maintaining professionalism.
- Effective problem-solving skills, including developing and executing action plans.
- Proficient computer skills and familiarity with pharmacy software systems are advantageous.
- Commitment to adhering to Health & Safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Willingness to complete mandatory training and pursue voluntary continuing education.

Salary
