Payroll Specialist

Role overview

The Payroll Specialist is an important contributor within the business unit, supporting consulting work across a wide range of management and organizational needs. This role is centered on delivering accurate, on-time payroll processing for roughly 60 to 80 client accounts, each with different pay schedules, cycles, and complexities. The position also partners with clients to understand their payroll and accounting setups so process enhancements can be identified and recommended.

The ideal candidate brings strong commercial judgment, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a genuine drive to add value for both clients and internal teams. The role reports to the Area Manager and works closely with colleagues across the business unit, branch, and corporate office.

Key duties

• Process large volumes of accurate, timely on-cycle and off-cycle payrolls for multiple client organizations, covering more than 800 employees in total.
• Develop deep working knowledge of new client onboarding, payroll workflows, CRM tools such as Salesforce, timekeeping platforms, and HRIS systems, while spotting system improvements that can benefit clients and internal teams.
• Provide client-side training in payroll operations, payroll software, and the relevant functionality available within the platform.
• Build expertise in client-specific data and requirements, including turnover trends, seasonal or changing headcount, time and attendance, payroll bridging, import/export needs, prevailing wage rules, job costing, certified payroll, and standard or custom reporting.

Compensation and benefits

The starting hourly pay for this position is between $23.00 and $31.25, with the exact offer influenced by location, skills, education, experience, certifications, and other qualifications. This role is also eligible for incentive pay under the company plan.
