Job Role and Responsibilities

This full-time position requires the Optician to work on-site at the Negombo store. Responsibilities include assisting clients in choosing suitable frames and lenses, interpreting prescriptions from eye professionals, and advising on lens options, coatings, and products aligned with each customer’s visual requirements and lifestyle preferences. The role encompasses daily duties such as fitting and adjusting eyewear, taking accurate measurements, and keeping the showroom and workspace orderly. Additionally, the Optician will address customer questions, manage order processing and follow-ups, as well as support inventory control and merchandise presentation. Collaboration with optometrists and other eye care providers is vital to facilitate a seamless customer experience from eye examinations through to final eyewear receipt.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Comprehensive understanding of optics and practical experience with various lens types, frame fitting, and vision correction methods.
• Background in optometry or experience assisting with eye exams and interpreting prescriptions is highly advantageous.
• Proven excellence in customer service emphasizing empathy, clear communication, and high satisfaction levels.
• Capability to assist in coordinating eye exams, explaining procedures, and guiding clients throughout their vision care journey.
• Strong attention to detail coupled with manual skills for precise eyewear adjustments and basic computer literacy for order and record management.
• Experience working in optical shops or healthcare retail settings is a plus.
• Possession of relevant certifications or vocational training in optics or opticianry is preferred, though equivalent practical experience will be considered.
• Availability to work full-time on-site in Negombo and collaborate efficiently within a small, customer-centered team.
