Job Overview
The Network Administrator role at Watu Credit is crucial for supporting both head office and branch operations, ensuring compliance with IT department policies. Key responsibilities include managing escalated network and infrastructure issues, system administration, setup scopes, and maintaining network infrastructure to guarantee smooth business processes.
Primary Duties
- Manage and support organizational network infrastructure and computing systems, diagnosing and fixing complex technical issues.
- Deploy, maintain, and upgrade network hardware such as firewalls, switches, and routers within the administrative environment.
- Oversee system architecture installations, upgrades, and continuous alignment of hardware and software with company standards.
- Provide technical support and maintenance for hardware including printers, scanners, and other peripherals.
- Support local call center infrastructure ensuring smooth operation and resolving complex system problems.
- Implement network security protocols and endpoint protections; review firewall security analytics and escalate significant threats to the security division.
- Maintain documentation for architecture and network configurations in consultation with management.
- Ensure infrastructure operations run daily with minimal downtime, conduct periodic audits on permissions and system performance to maintain IT environment integrity.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on project planning, budgeting, and reporting progress.
- Identify and integrate new technologies for process improvements on departmental needs.
- Compose detailed reports on infrastructure status and incident resolutions.
- Build effective partnerships with leadership and vendors to achieve organizational goals.
- Manage local data centers, wide area networks, and security protocols involving third-party integrations.
- Perform vendor evaluations and advise leadership on service provider management.
- Adhere strictly to organizational and IT regulatory policies and frameworks.
- Produce analytical reports for management and undertake additional duties as assigned.
Performance Targets
- Achieve 100% timely response to network and infrastructure tickets within average SLA.
- Resolve 95% of network and infrastructure tickets within SLA timeframes.
- Investigate and report all network incidents within three working days.
- Train and supervise the IT Network Administrator Officer to meet performance goals.
- Maintain network and infrastructure uptime at 99.9%.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related fields supplemented by professional certifications.
- A minimum of five years working experience in IT, particularly with at least five years as a network or system engineer or related role.
Technical Expertise
- Proficient in hardware maintenance, troubleshooting, and resolving Microsoft system issues.
- Experienced in infrastructure management including maintenance, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Skilled with network cabling, installation, and assembly of server racks and switches.
- Familiar with major networking vendors such as Cisco, Ubiquiti, and Mikrotik.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts including Cloud architecture, VPNs, and Data Center operations.
- Competent in using Google Workspace for data analysis and efficiency improvements.
- Experienced with Active Directory, virtual machines, Linux and Microsoft Servers management.
- Capable of deploying monitoring tools like Grafana, Zabbix, and Wireshark.
- Knowledgeable about IT protocols, data security, and firewalls including Sophos and Fortinet.
- Experience with project management systems such as Spiceworks, Gitlab, or Jira is a plus.
