About the Role
You will be the Singapore-based engineer responsible for integrating local monitoring, telemetry, and observability assets into the Group ROC observability platform, including ServiceNow ITOM, Cloud Observability, and other standard Group tools. This position aims to unify Singapore’s disparate monitoring solutions into the Group’s standard framework, establish service telemetry, define SLIs/SLOs, create dashboards, and develop AIOps event rules for critical local services. The ultimate goals include enhancing the mean time to detect (MTTD) and mean time to resolve (MTTR) for incidents in Singapore.
As the local Subject Matter Expert (SME) and primary contact with the Group observability team, you will ensure that the Singapore estate is monitored with appropriate service context and resilience visibility. Your insights will support local leadership, the ROC, and regulatory bodies.
Responsibilities
- Integrate and consolidate local monitoring tools with the Group ROC observability platform.
- Define service telemetry metrics, SLIs, SLOs, dashboards, and configure AIOps event rules for critical services.
- Improve incident detection and resolution times (MTTD/MTTR) within Singapore.
- Serve as the SME liaison to the Group observability team, advocating for local needs and standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across local and Group teams to ensure observability consistency and compliance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognised institution.
- At least 7 years of experience in monitoring and observability engineering spanning infrastructure, applications, and cloud.
- Demonstrated expertise in monitoring and observability engineering in infrastructure, network, application, and cloud environments (6-10 years preferred).
- Experience working with ServiceNow ITOM Event Management, including event correlation and alert tuning (3-5 years preferred).
- Proficiency with observability-as-code, telemetry standards such as OpenTelemetry, dashboarding, and SLI/SLO design (3-5 years preferred).
Certifications
- ServiceNow CIS certification in Event Management (preferred)
- Certifications in observability or monitoring technologies such as Splunk, Solarwinds, Dynatrace, Datadog, Grafana, or Prometheus
- ITIL v4 Foundation certification
- Foundational cloud certification in AWS or Azure
Skills and Competencies
- Advanced knowledge of observability engineering including metrics, logs, traces, and event management.
- Expertise in event correlation, suppression techniques, and configuring & tuning AIOps.
- Ability to design SLIs, SLOs and SLAs and construct operational dashboards.
- Skillful in instrumentation and implementing observability-as-code with tools such as OpenTelemetry and related pipelines.
- Effective stakeholder engagement and collaboration with both local teams and broader Group functions.
- Understanding of Monetary Authority of Singapore Technology Risk Management (MAS TRM) guidelines and resilience reporting requirements.
