Mechanical Design Engineer - Packaging

About the Role

Our client, a reputable industrial packaging firm based in Cork, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in packaging to join their expanding team. This role centers on engineering design tasks aimed at developing tailored protective and transit packaging solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize CAD software to craft custom packaging designs
• Generate detailed drawings, layouts, and comprehensive design documentation
• Assist with CAD-supported cost estimation processes
• Develop and update Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• Coordinate closely with production, purchasing, and commercial teams to ensure seamless project execution
• Provide general office assistance, including purchasing support during slower periods

Software Experience

Proficiency with any CAD software is beneficial and skillsets are highly transferable.

Candidate Profile

• Preferably possess 2 to 3 years of experience in design engineering or a similar discipline
• Open to applicants exhibiting strong CAD capabilities backed by relevant project involvement
• Practical and flexible mindset, comfortable in small to medium enterprises (SME) settings
• Willingness to undertake diverse responsibilities beyond core design duties
